Polish dumplings

Last Sunday we were in Mandu – a small restaurant in Oliwa district in Gdańsk, where you can try different kinds of dumplings. I wanted to discover this popular place because I read about it in Internet. This restaurant is famous for very good cuisine and a possibility to observe how they prepare dumplings just before they serve them on a plate.

Dumplings are cooked balls of dough. Two basics ingredients that we use to prepare polish dumplings are flour and water. They may have a sweet or savoury filling. Typically they are cooked by boiling but in Mandu you can also try baked dumplings. If you visit Gdańsk, you must eat dinner in this place. We’ve chosen baked Mexican dumplings with mixed meat-vegetables filling and khinkali – Georgian dumplings with spicy meat filling and chopped parsley. Everything was delicious. Next time I would like to try dumplings with raspberry and chopped mint filling served with sour cream.
